Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
It was hard to paint this small! So, this is a detail of a larger work and in it is a common thread that links many of my paintings: a white circle of protection. The deer in Native American culture is a call for gentleness. The circle is from an old wives’ tale, that I heard when I was a student living in Devon. It's always makes me feel safe.
