Helen Beard (b.1971) creates work that vibrates with movement and colour in a celebration of the erotic experience. Her paintings often represent explicit views of sexual acts and present a joyous, female-centric depiction of sensual joy.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
My submitted works are an exploration of negative space, working with 2D shapes to illustrate a physical action. Inspired by Baldessari, my concept was to use cutouts as minimal description: editing out any extraneous form and colour. The challenge was deciding what to leave in and what to leave out!
