Acrylic and Graphite on Paper

Vikki grew up in Kelowna, BC. She enrolled in the Fine Arts program at Okanagan College but left soon after to follow a boy into the Business program. After many years in Sales and Marketing she left to have her second child and pursue her art. When both her and her husband found themselves jobless at the start of the 2020 pandemic, they decided to relocate to downtown Victoria to start a new page. Vikki is now a full-time artist with a tiny Studio|Gallery in historic Fan Tan Alley. She is currently represented by ARTE funktional Gallery and Ashpa Naira Gallery in Vernon.

I am self-taught. I continue to learn and take exploratory classes on all aspects of art. I have worked for a commercial gallery and have a degree in Business Administration.

About the postcard artworks

My practice circles around the themes of time, freedom, motherhood and humanity. I am interested in distortion. Through loose line work and flattened figures and shapes I create an abstracted representation of the world. In doing so I create a pathway to process the complexities of the human condition. I wonder about how the imagination processes experience, memory and shape into visual form. By taking a sideways look at life I challenge the viewer to question what we see as reality.
