ARTIST INFO

About

Mary Ronayne draws heavily on Hogarthian satire but her gooey, candy pop colours give the work a contemporary edge. She searches magazine cutouts, classical art, literature, movies, plays and operas and is known for reinterprets these using enamel and domestic paint. The Irish painter brings wit and fun via historical and cultural reimagining but deeply relevant in an age of social media, news spin and meme culture.

Education

She studied Fine art in TU, Dublin and History of art in Cardiff. She holds an MA(Honours) from the National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
