Cecilia Biagini was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1967 and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She received the Photography Critics Award from the Centro de Arte y Comunicación (CAyC, 1989) and was a recipient of the Kuitca Scholarship in 1994, and then again in 1997, when her work was short-listed for the Braque Award and the Gunther Award. She has held solo exhibitions in Buenos Aires at Espacio Giesso (1991), Centro Cultural Rojas (1997), Belleza y Felicidad (2000), Dabbah Torrejón (2001), Zavaleta Lab (2007), and Galería Van Riel (2009, 2012, 2014). In 1998 she moved to New York, where she co-founded the exhibition space The Hogar Collection, in Brooklyn. Biagini is currently featured as part of MoMA P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center’s Studio Visit, a virtual presentation of artists’ studios. Her artwork has been exhibited at the Argentine Consulate in New York (1998), The Hogar Collection (2006, 2008, 2010); The Bemis Center, Nebraska (2006), Hunterdon Museum of Art, New Jersey (2008), Rupert Ravens Contemporary, New Jersey (2008), Ruiz Healy Art, Texas (2009, 2013); Pentimenti Gallery, Pennsylvania (2011, 2013, 2017), Praxis Gallery, New York (2013, 2015) and Mana, Miami (2014). Her work is part of both public and private around the world, including Toyota Research Institute in Cambridge MA, The University of Texas at San Antonio; The New York Public Library; The Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C.; the Ministry of Education of Argentina; and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Buenos Aires (MACBA).
