About the postcard artworks
I am interested in interrogating memory, both personal and collective. As source material I often use found images such as postcards and family photographs as starting points to bring the past and present together in an uneasy construct. There is an element of nostalgia and a mourning of the time that has passed. Mistakes, chance and improvisation in the process of painting are essential to the agency and meaning.
