Jan Zöller’s paintings are full of references to the failure of modernist utopia, German postwar modernity and ultimately the collapse of turbo-capitalism. As the anarchistic birds in his art are occupying fountains, bathrooms and places to co-opt them as a new place for their community, in a similar way Zöller uses the broken system of the art world in his paintings to recreate the foundation for a new utopia.
Jan was born in 1992, and now lives and works in Karlsruhe, Germany. She studied at Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe from 2012-2015, and later at Beaux-Arts Paris in 2016. In 2017 she was awarded the Postgraduate award: Academy of Finearts, Karlsruhe (D) and in 2018 the Federal Prize for Art Students - Bundeskunsthalle. She has exhibited throughout Europe in Karlsruhe, Brussels and Moscow.
