Rob Browning received his formal art education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia (1974-1979). His artwork is included in many public and private collections and has been used commercially by clients, including: General Electric, ITT, American Airlines and Disney Enterprises. He currently resides in central Virginia, USA.
Rob’s unique contemporary surrealist paintings of human figures, landscapes, and architecture often depict quiet, slightly unsettling scenes of suburban life. His work often plays with shadow, producing crafty illusions and silhouettes that contrast with the richly colored motifs in his paintings. Rows of fluffy white clouds set into relief by cerulean skies figure heavily in Browning’s works; his paintings capture an idealized version of reality, albeit one distorted by supernatural events and bizarre juxtapositions.
