Lot 337 - David Micheaud - Red Buoy
ARTIST INFO
About
David Micheaud’s practice is concerned with the act of looking. Seemingly mundane objects and landscapes are carefully observed over time. Overlooked details become central in paintings that capture the atmospheric tones of light and delicate shifts in colour of the environments that frame them. They appear to be born of a resistance to the typical pace of looking; a desire to slow down and delve deeper.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
David has often used the horizon line real or imagined as a device for calm contemplation. A timeless point without interference from human touch. On this occasion though they are disrupted by the arrival of little nodes of plastic, different coloured buoys disrupting the quiet a human presence bobbing in the sea.
The postcard formats history of identifying a place to be sent home in a ‘Wish you were here’ moment is referenced in these pleasant seascapes but there is no clue as to where this could be, anywhere? somewhere? no where? Hope to see you there.
