About
Olivia Mansfield is a multidisciplinary artist working predominantly as a painter, but who is also known to work with printmaking, ceramics, and glass. "My intuitive process allows me to move and engage naturally with the imagery manifesting within my work, I tentatively tease out forms which appear before me with delicate and wistful flowing gestures of my brush.

Drawing inspiration from creation stories, myth/legend, folklore, and symbolism, I look at how we often turn to the old ways, to ancient wisdoms and teachings, and to how we tap into a deeper connection with our bodies and our surroundings."

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
I contemplate narratives of harmony and mysticism, portraying ethereal visions, almost portal-like, which connect the fantastical and otherworldly realms to a terrestrial materiality of our Earth. A lot of the time these manifest as abstracted, dreamlike landscapes. Lofty mountain tops, hazy skies, warm ashy earth, water, air, and fire are all present. Spy saplings and seedlings emerging, visions of blossoming new life beneath brooding atmospheric skies, the source and ripple of water between the crags of stone on a mountain's peak. I suppose I hope to capture those fleeting moments of serenity, like the magic minutes of a misty dawn, when it is neither night nor day: those truly enchanting and moving synergies of sublime nature at work
