About the postcard artworks
The theme of each of us being 'many' and not defined by one element is referenced in these small works through the symbolic representation of houses, doors, birds, music, combined with strong colour. These symbols and forms help define us in multiple ways, many of which are hidden to the external observer. 'Home' is a significant aspect of who we are, not simply a place but a feeling of belonging and safety. Not being able to be or feel at home due to incarceration is something that is a very heavy burden within and without.
