ARTIST INFO
My portraits, some of which include miniature scenes, aim to capture a moment in time, memories, reflections and the expression of various emotions in ways which actively involve the viewer. I try to make the emotions ambiguous and complex, challenging the viewer to find their personal meaning.
The paint composition, the impasto application and visible brush strokes are intended to create depth and add power to these emotions.
Bold, strong colours sometimes blend within the portrait and on other occasions clash, creating visual and emotional complexity.
My portraits do not aim at an accurate likeness but seek to capture emotions and to inspire the viewer to find their own unique meanings.

About the postcard artworks
The three postcards each tried to express a sense of individuality. To suggest the subjects are complex characters, with many different aspects to their lives, that they have a real depth way beyond any preconceptions. I used bright bold colours to create a sense of positivity, of optimism for the future of the characters.
