Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
I discovered art and visual pop culture during long hours spent in record shops as a child (my dad was a collector). I passed the time by looking at the album covers and this sparked an interest in the relationship between art and music which would develop more specifically into looking at the role of the artist in creating and sustaining an icon. Both 'Debs' and 'Ziggy says..' link back to these early visual influences, whilst 'Dry your eyes mate' is a more playful take on Michelangelo's David and his masculinity.
