Lot 49 - Eva Yates - A Cheeky Gander
Oil on Card
Curated by Lee Sharrock
Eva Yates (born 1996 Southeast London) is a neo-surrealist oil painter whose warping of imagery counters her demons. She descends to a distorted world of nymphs and bright playful pallets to reveal the contrasting poles of her subconscious. Threats move in from the edges, often as optical illusions, as she stretches reality. Her work opens space for the imagination to grow. Using her friends as her muse, she immortalises the iconic and reinvigorates the nostalgic.
Eva recently completed her studies in classic realism at Grand Central Atelier in New York, studying under Jacob Collins and Colleen Barry.
