"I am a self-taught artist, with a professional background in natural history and conservation. I have always been drawn to plants and animals, and in particular the organic shapes and variety of form and colour found in nature. After having my first daughter in 2015 I began to explore these elements visually. I work largely in watercolour and describe what I do as ‘drawing with paint’. I love the immediacy of watercolour as a medium and enjoy exploring the fluidity of the paint in combination with more controlled elements. I live in the North-East of England with my partner Stephen (a printmaker) and our daughters Agnes and Frida."

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork 

“For the Art on a Postcard Summer 2024 exhibit I created three abstracted botanical watercolours. They are inspired by the arrival of Spring and the fleeting nature of flowers surrounding our home – as one species is blossoming, another fades away. The drawings were made in watercolour using the wet-on-wet technique, where layers of colour are painted together and blend unpredictably into one another – in this way it can feel like drawing with water.” 

Please do not bid on artwork in our Art on a Postcard auctions if you intend on selling the artwork after you have purchased it. This auction has been organised for charity; all artworks have been generously donated by the artists to raise money for charity. When a work is sold on the secondary market it damages our relationship with the artist and prevents us from fundraising.
