Albie Romero (b.1995 Galicia, Spain) lives and works in London, UK. Albie's work can be described as an intellectual inquiry of the process of oil painting with an anthropological perspective. In his paintings, he explores the formation of belief systems of all kinds, from religious and political fanaticism to everyday rituals and traditions. Albie’s references are part found imagery, part photographs taken by himself with different film and digital cameras. In the process of analyzing and scrutinizing the subject matter, he studies ways in which images can be created, experimenting with different materials such as metal, wood and different types of fabrics, and how these affect the image. Albie works in oil painting in a delicate almost seamless manner. But he also approaches different painting styles and techniques that allow him to experiment and find unexpected and exciting outcomes.
