About
Emilia’s paintings aim to be delightfully nostalgic and full of character. She is inspired by the every day, whether that be from nosing around cafés and markets for inspiration or wondering around the city at night; Emilia grasps the spirit of a place using bold, vibrant colours. Fascinated by places and people, Emilia encapsulates the beauty of time, location, and memory on an aesthetic and emotional level. Drawing from her own experiences and the many stories she hears from viewers who have a connection to her chosen spots, Emilia produces paintings that move with the rhythm and rush of the city.
Education
Emilia graduated in 2020 from the Courtauld Institute of Art, where she studied History of Art, BA (Hons). She also studied Fine Art at UAL, Chelsea College of Art, and has a Foundation Diploma in Fashion and Textiles from UCA.
Select Exhibitions/Awards
This year 2023 has got off to an exciting start, chosen as a semi-finalist in the RBA ‘Rising Stars’ Exhibition with her painting ‘Beigel Bake 11pm’ and exhibiting at The Other Art Fair, London in March 2023 (& 2022).
In the last year she has also shown work at Fresh Art Fair (Cheltenham & Ascot ), Manchester Art Fair and Edinburgh Art Fair, to name a few.
In 2021, at the very beginning of her career, she was part of the Threshold Annual Summer Exhibition at D Contemporary, Mayfair, London with 'Searching for a Remedy II'.
In 2022, her painting ‘To Solitude’ was also shortlisted for the 2022 SWA exhibition at the Mall Galleries & long listed for the Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter prize.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
This art on a postcard piece is a small segment 'study piece' of my now sold original piece 'Sunny Sunday'. It's a small but vibrant& lively study of Columbia Road Flower Market in London. It's a spot I frequent, and somewhere I know holds a special place in a lot of Londoners hearts. I chose this area because I want the piece to uplift and make viewers smile. This could either be through the feelings of nostalgia it creates towards the place or a more general attraction to bright colours and nature to evoke feelings of positivity. The piece piece could essentially be anywhere, having chosen just a small section, I wanted the piece to be as escapist as it is representative of the best places in London.
