Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork

For this years ‘Art on a Postcard Summer Auction’ I have made two postcards based on Windows 97 motifs seen in my recent solo show ‘The truth is out there’, Roman Road, 2022. ‘Lie back and think of England’ is lifted directly from ‘Unruhe’ (original canvas found here: https://bexmassey.com/portfolio/the-truth-is-out-there-2/ ) . This postcard combines clunky error code box and text from Lady Hillingdon’s journal (1912). This phrase was used with the addition of ‘OK?’ to discuss the assertion as well as the current zeitgeist of post Brexit ‘Great’ Britain and my unease in this milieu. At the time of being asked to make work for this year’s auction Brianna Ghey had just been murdered. ‘Trans Rights Now’ therefore feels especially pertinent whilst hate crimes like this occur and the current Tory government continues to erode civil liberties for the Trans community.
