Series 1: Art on a Postcard for International Women's Day

Hello. Welcome to Art on a Podcast - the podcast from Art on a Postcard. This series we’ll be having some exclusive conversations with some of the phenomenal contributing artists to our International Women’s Day Art on a Postcard auction. All of the artists have generously donated postcard-sized mini masterpieces to help us continue to raise funds for The Hepatitis C Trust. We discuss what inspires them, how they work and the contemporary art landscape.

EPISODE 1: MEET THE TEAM

Meet the team in our first episode as we discuss some of the artworks included in our upcoming auction and give a deeper insight into Art on a Postcard and how we started!

EPISODE 2: MEET THE ARTIST - SUZANNE MOXHAY

In this episode our host Rosa Torr met with visual artist Suzanne Moxhay in her studio to learn more about her unique practice and creative process.

Moxhay’s works moves fluently between real and illusionary space, between the idealized and the dystopian environments. Her latest work features broken down interiors, creating hybrid spaces that merge inside and out, juxtaposing the intimate and the undomesticated and take on the quality of an empty stage set.

EPISODE 3: MEET THE ARTIST - VANESSA JACKSON RA

In this episode our host Rosa Torr met with Royal Academician Vanessa Jackson RA in her studio where they discussed the relationship between language and art, the important lessons she teaches her art students and her vigorous practice.

Vanessa Jackson is a painter and installation wall painter, whose use of geometry and its three dimensional function deny the supposed flatness of modernist space. Her work explores the contradiction of a fully realised space at once pertaining to logic and completeness and uncertainty and unease. The ornamental and optical play of colour and form in the artist’s work both confirms and confuses the sense of perception.

EPISODE 4: MEET THE CURATOR - BETH GREENACRE

In this episode, our host Rosa Torr met renowned curator Beth Greenacre to learn more about her fascinating career, including her work as curator of David Bowie's art collection and her impeccable curation of the collection at AllBright, the private members club for women in business where the exhibition of our Art on a Postcard Auction for International Women's Day is taking place on Monday 2nd March.

Beth Greenacre is a leading force in the British contemporary art world. A curator and art consultant specialising in Modern British and International Contemporary art, she graduated from The Courtauld in 1997 with a BA in the History of Art, moving into the curatorial art world soon after.

EPISODE 5: MEET THE ARTIST - FIPSI SEILERN

In this episode our host Rosa Torr met with artist Fipsi Seilern in her studio to learn more about her fascination with cults and her once anonymous street art alter ego PANG.

Fipsi Seilern is a London based visual artist working across several mediums. Motivated by her own questions around human behaviour, her work draws on both current and historic references, exploring themes such as groupthink, identity, religion and idealism.

EPISODE 6: MEET THE ARTIST - JUSTINE SMITH

In this episode our host Rosa Torr met with artist Justine Smith in her studio to learn more about her unique use of bank notes and the political connotations of her practice.

Justine Smith's current work is concerned with the concept of money and how it touches almost every aspect of our lives. She is interested in money as a conduit of power and also in the value systems with which we surround it.
