About

Born in 1982, Lenny Mathé is a self taught visual artist. He grew up in Paris, France and is based in Brussels, Belgium since 2014. Inventing his own mythology, he sets the stage for dreamlike creatures and humanlike figures to come alive as celestial messengers, ready to let a forgotten piece of the Being echo within ourselves. Powerful and striking symbols, delivered through plain raw poetry: the mythical uncovers the real. It is with his love of words that he urges to experience the world with a different perspective. Like haikus, the titles of his pieces demonstrate the desire to put words onto images, and images into words in order to emphasize the dichotomy between vision and perception. As an avowed self-taught artist, Lenny Mathé moves against the tide to blur the lines, blend the styles, and bring parallel worlds closer together… all to come ever nearer to what resides in his heart. Art serves as a therapy to help him find balance. As if opening up to his inner child could highlight the man in perpetual (de)construction, the artist questions the world and himself, and matures through his creative and cathartic productions.
