About

Calleja's work retires to the comfort and melancholy of home. She looks back on her own notions of comfort to confront an anxious present and grapple with an uncertain future. Calleja's interest lies in dualities; the tension and dissonance between comfort and melancholy, isolation and connection, love and pain.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork

These drawings explore self reflection through objects and art around me using the process of drawing to create quiet moments of introspection. The drawings were then dipped in tea to decrease the tonal range and heighten the silent atmosphere.
