Marta Marsicka is an art historian and curator pursuing a PhD at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London, and working as an Artist Development Coordinator at BACKLIT Gallery in Nottingham. Their research deconstructs Western paradigms of art history, addressing the underrepresentation of East-Central European art within the West-centric discourse. Through their curatorial practice, Marta bridges academic inquiry and cultural production, delving into the complexities of East-Central European identities and fostering transnational dialogues in the context of post-Brexit Britain.
