The Artist

Laurence De Valmy

Laurence de Valmy combines painting and digital mediums to shed new light on our collective imagery, prompting viewers to reflect on societal themes such as the notion of fame, the place of women, and the evolving role of technology in creativity and art.

In her "POST paintings", she skillfully appropriates iconic artworks and pairs them with imagined yet historically accurate Instagram conversations, blending humor and insight. Her *TikTok Timeless* series, short videos available as NFTs, captures moments in the lives of historical artists, inviting viewers to reconsider these figures through the lens of social media’s centrality in contemporary culture.

With "You Go Girl", de Valmy celebrates the positive portrayal of girls in modern-day comic books like Pokemon, amplifying empowering narratives through her vibrant paintings.

Her latest series, "InpAired by CalifornIA", explores the intersection of traditional art and AI. Inspired by her Californian surroundings and influenced by David Hockney's embrace of new media, de Valmy creates artworks that combine her photographs or sketches with AI-generated images, blending human creativity with technology. The series challenges perceptions of originality and highlights AI’s growing presence in contemporary art.

Laurence de Valmy is French-American and lives in San Diego, USA. Her work is represented by galleries in the USA, the UK, and France, and she is an active member of Artcan.org, a nonprofit artist community.
