About
Art is a means of reconnecting the alternative values of past cultures to the present, and addressing issues of resistance, sustainability, and economies of care. Painting is a way of thinking through complex systems and creating multiple and entangled narratives that create empathy and value for women's lives.
Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
Via medieval grotesque imagery 'The mothers of mankind' humorously explores stereotypical representations of women and the 'crime' of Eve. Without her human kind wouldn't exist yet she rarely gets a good mention, just a lot of bad press and blame. All those centuries of male metaphysical haggling about 'paradise' and interior illumination etc etc, seems a weak excuse for not helping with housework and nappies.
