About
Since graduating with a Masters from the Royal Drawing School, Pollyanna has been creating ceramics, oil paintings, and drawings. Her work sells worldwide, and recent collaborations include Dior, Gant and The National Portrait Gallery. Juxtaposing female portraits from history with a sarcasm and tongue in cheek attitude, she mocks and undermines the patriarchy.
Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
Since becoming a mother, Pollyanna has become fascinated by the character of Eve. The negative narrative that surrounds Eve mirrors a lot of ideas that continue to resonate and suffocate women today. ‘She was just’, was made whilst thinking about the idea of victim blaming. Awful things happen to women, and the media uses phrases like, ‘She was just going for a run’.
The piece ‘Adamant Eve’ stems from the idea of taking women from history and reframing them to put them at the centre of the story, invigorating them with a new purpose and headline role.
