About

Dr. Jade de Montserrat (b. 1981) was the recipient of the Stuart Hall Foundation Scholarship supporting her PhD and the development of her work from her Black diasporic perspective in the North of England. de Montserrat works through performance, drawing, painting, film, installation, sculpture, print and text. Concerned with challenging structures of care in institutions and with the intersection of gender, race, class, and colonialism, often in the context of life in rural communities, she makes artworks that explore the vulnerability of bodies, the importance of recording and preserving history, and the tactile and sensory qualities of language. In 2020, Iniva and Manchester Art Gallery commissioned Jade de Montserrat as the first artist for the Future Collect project, with a solo exhibition Constellations: Care and Resistance at Manchester Art Gallery (2020 – 2022). In 2021, she participated in a group exhibition An Infinity of Traces at Lisson Gallery, and opened a solo exhibition In Search of Our Mothers’ Gardens at Bosse & Baum Gallery, London. In 2022, she was included in the group exhibition Body Vessel Clay,  at Two Temple Place, London, and York Art Gallery (2022), A Tall Order! – Rochdale Art Gallery in the 1980s, at Touchstones, Rochdale (2023). Most recently she had a solo exhibition titled Soul of Fire, Old Parcels Office Artspace, Scarborough (2023). In 2023 the artist launched Soul of Fire Artists’ Charcoal to make the material accessible to schools and communities. Jade is a Tutor at Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford, and an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London. She proudly serves on the Board of Trustees at Crescent Arts in Scarborough, OUTPOST in Norwich, and Alchemy Film & Arts in Hawick. Jade is represented by Bosse & Baum Gallery, London. Jade de Montserrat is part of a group exhibition at Claridge’s ArtSpace in 2023 and will part of an upcoming group exhibition at The Drawing Room in London in 2024.

Insulate Ukraine

Overview

We bring warmth, light and safety to war-impacted homes with an innovative window developed with the help of engineers from the University of Cambridge. We've installed more than 20,000 windows in cities across Ukraine. Our projects provide work to financially destitute areas empowering local communities.

Problem

During winter many Ukrainians will face freezing conditions due to their windows being shattered. Current solutions such as OSB fall short on several counts. They don't insulate well, they don't let light through, they can be difficult to install, and they shatter.

Solution

Our triple-glazed polyethylene windows provide an affordable, effective remedy, that increases resilience in communities worst affected by the invasion.

Benefits

Our windows present multifaceted benefits. For recipients, they ensure warmth, safety, and improved living conditions. Local civilians gain work which fuels regional business. Donors contribute to a solution that enhances energy efficiency, supports economic growth, and aids the most vulnerable, creating profound environmental, economic, and social impacts in Ukraine.
