About
Woosun Choi is an independent visual artist from Seoul, South Korea, based in Nottingham, UK. She paints on canvas with oils and works on illustration digitally too. Her practice revolves around the externalisation of personal emotions in various fictional characters that she asserts are all a part of herself, radically taking the idea of self-portraiture beyond the self. She examines the social and political nature of these themes; scrutinising the ordinary aspect of daily life and transforming, and transporting it into a new reality.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
The Blue Flower 1 and 2 are part of my new series On Things That Disappear.
I’ve created two artworks on postcards for this auction called Blue Flower 1 and 2.
These images are about how I felt during a loss, and how I came to express the experience of grief and mourning.
By intentionally cropping images alongside others, the artwork creates a sense of visual discomfort rather than open appreciation.
This disjointed composition asks viewers to engage with the emotion of discomfort in wanting something broken to be fixed, while the colours and light help to draw hope from the experience and comfort in their ongoing story.
Please note this page is just a preview. The lot price shown here may not be the current auction price.
