About
Anna Pakosz is a painter whose work combines instinctive gestures with figurative imagery, fostering a deeply personal dialogue on themes of freedom, intimacy, and connection. She is especially interested in the organic process through which color and form develop, starting with an initial, unplanned gesture that gradually reveals its potential. This evolution mirrors her emotional and psychological landscape, inviting viewers to engage in a shared experience characterized by rawness and authenticity.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
Recently, I’ve been exploring paper as a medium in my studio. I’m drawn to its fragility and malleability—it yields to pressure but breaks when pushed too far. These works emerged through an intense process of applying water, ink, and charcoal to the paper. As it broke, holes appeared—some I stitched back together, while others I left open. This process feels raw and cathartic, embodying both grief and repair. The material has a profoundly human quality: we break, we mend, and we carry our wounds with us.
